Top 5 Day Trips in Jacksonville, Florida: Adventures Unveiled Beyond the River City!

Like anywhere else – living in Jacksonville, Florida is what you make it.

Jacksonville is referred to as home for many of us and sometimes – we want to get away from home for the day.

The beauty of Jax is that there is plenty to do in the city, but it’s also located in a great area surrounded by other fun cities to visit.

We have made a list for those that want to take a quick trip for a fun day out in a different city, but to give them enough time to head back home the same day.

While making this list, we wanted to put a focus on places that are not much more than 2 hours away – areas that you can head out early in the morning and drive right back home later in the day.

St. Augustine, FL

You can’t make a list (or have a blog) like this without mentioning St. Augustine. St. Augustine is known as the oldest city in the United States – sitting at a whopping estimated 460 years.

St. Augustine has a lot of things to do and despite it’s small population, it’s quite the tourist spot.

Amelia Island, FL

Amelia Island has be governed by eight different countries – definitely expect to see a lot of history when you visit.

Gainesville, FL

When you think Gainesville first thing to probably pop in your head is “party town”. While Gainesville has a very prominent nightlife within the state of Florida – there is much more going on in this city that meets the eye.

Gainesville is loaded with stunning historical preservations that are a must-see when visiting. Gainesville is also home to one of the largest universities in the United States – University of Florida, home of the Florida Gators.

Orlando, FL

Orlando, Florida is home to some of the great theme parks and resorts; Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World – the list goes on.

Although there are many famous resorts in Orlando, there is actually more to do than your typical Disney World trip.

Orlando is filled with unique things to do and can be an excellent trip to go on if you’re looking for an adventure away from Jacksonville.

Daytona Beach, FL

Known for its famous beach – Daytona beach is that one beach city that is just laid back offering you a vibe to just relax for the day. Maybe enjoy a cocktail or two, followed by a nice walk on the beach; maybe take a dip in the water?

Tourist activity here is definitely low with a beautiful beach view and very clean water. There’s also plenty to do there with a decent nightlife.
