If you’re familiar with the Jacksonville June Bug, it’s no secret that we love kava lounges. Kava lounges are great for two things – relaxing and socializing.
We’re big believers of the kava-sphere here at the JJB because it’s not common to find an environment where you get to relax and make new friends; because when you’re in the nightclub, leaning your back against the wall with a beer in your hand, looking in the general direction and anxiously hoping you will find someone to talk to you; there’s someone at the same time with the same issues as you hanging out at a kava lounge. But instead, the other poor sap at the kava lounge actually finds him or herself in a fun conversation with new friends.
Of course we’re not taking an aim at nightclubs. In fact, we encourage our readers to go out and check out local nightclubs; but what we’re saying is that we find these kava lounges to be a better and healthier social atmosphere.
Kava lounges present to you the coolest people that are always up for a good conversation – this is part of kava culture.
People love to socialize, so if you come here looking to make friends; don’t be afraid to say hi to anyone you’re ready to potentially click with.
What makes kava lounges even better is the absence of alcoholic beverages.
Kava and Company is completely alcohol-free and highly encourages abstinence from alcohol. Here at Kava and Company they are punctual in their goal for others to remain sober.
They serve kava, coffee, kratom-infused drinks, and smoothies with a full set up of different syrups to make several kinds of concoctions.
The staff at both locations are fantastic. They are attentive, add love to their drink making, and most important – they are fond of what they do and it shows.
Kava and Company has two locations in Jacksonville and they are both unique in their own way.
San Marco location
Located at: 1224 Kings Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32207
This kava lounge is a wonderful spot to go on a date, bring friends, or make friends. It consists of a bar area with an indoor lounging area along with board games to play. There’s also an outdoor section of the lounge which has foosball, darts, pool, and ping pong.
K&C are big in local band performances and it’s always a fun night with a good chunk of attendees. So many people typically attend which is always a great time.
Not only does Kava and Company host music nights, but also trivia and karaoke.
They are also big on pool tournaments here and it’s no secret that they can get pretty intense and very competitive.

At the San Marco location, pop up vendor markets are also very common and are done on a monthly basis.
Yoga classes are also hosted here and they are incredibly relaxing.
You’ll definitely feel a sports bar kind of vibe at this location which also enhances your experience as a guest here; especially since it mixes well with meeting new people and socializing.
Mandarin location
Located at: 11018 Old St Augustine Rd Suite #123, Jacksonville, FL 32257
The Mandarin location is it’s own thing. It’s smaller than the San Marco location and it’s home to numerous regulars.
Despite it’s smaller space, this location gets very lively especially when the board games are out.
Mandarin is excellent if you’re looking for more of a laid back, quieter space to enjoy some kava. Imagine – you just got off work, you’re exhausted, you want to unwind; this lounge provides a warm and relaxing environment for you to sit and chill.
The vibe and the dim lights are concomitant here. They set the atmosphere to feel so right and it emphasizes it’s relaxed environment.
This location is also great for bringing your computer, hanging out at the bar, and doing computer work; so feel free to bring your laptop.
Every month, Kava and Company at Mandarin will also have drum circle which is always a wonderful time. Even if you don’t know how to play, the more experienced people are always happy to teach you.
Kava and Company also doesn’t limit their music to once a month either – they’ll have regular jam sessions and live performances as well.
