Located at: 8661 Old Kings Rd, Jacksonville, Florida, 32217

Jacksonville is a city with many restaurants, stores, and businesses in general; every waking day, the Jacksonville June Bug strives to find the best – and only the best. We aim to please the people with discovering the hidden gems of Jacksonville.

Here at the Jacksonville June Bug, our biggest goals is to connect with the community and in doing so, we also connect with other businesses.

One thing one must know about the Jacksonville June Bug is – we like to hang out and chill. This brings us to the new spot – Floating Sea Aquatics, which is one of the largest aquatic store in the nation.

Now from the outside, you may see the FSA sign and think “it’s just a regular aquarium store” – but it’s far from just that.

Floating Sea Aquatics opened in 2021 and presents its guests with what essentially is – a charcuterie board of different activities.

You walk in and you’re already presented with different things to appreciate. There is so much to do at FSA. Let’s check it out.

The Aquarium

Upon arriving, you’ll first notice the fish pond to which they refer to as “Rescue Ship”. The Rescue Ship is made up of half saltwater and half freshwater. What splits the Rescue Ship is a neat little bridge which is awesome for pictures. The purpose of the Rescue ship is for those to donate their unwanted fishes to the store.

This is an excellent place to bring your kids too especially when you’re looking for something cheap or fun to do in Jax.

They sell both saltwater and freshwater fish along with tanks, fish food, and fish/tank care products.

The beauty of Floating Sea Aquatics is that it’s not only an aquarium store, but they also care for reptiles. Reptiles include monitors, snakes, bearded dragons and much more.

The Kava Lounge

One big topic within the FSA mission is serenity. The owner – Ozzy, is highly punctual within maintaining the serenity in the store. A big part of this, is their lounge.

The lounge is meant for both adults and children alike. Whether the kids are having play time, doing homework, or the adults want to hang out and eat lunch – Floating Sea Aquatics is for everyone.

If you’re not sure what kava is, kava is a crop that derives from the Pacific Islands and is made into a tea. While the taste of the tea itself can be intense, it’s known for it’s anxiety healing properties.

Aside from single or double kava shells, the lounge offers their own mocktail called The Blue Lagoon made with a very special recipe and it’s delicious.

Not only is kava served here but you can also order snacks, appetizers, lunch, and desserts including Taiyaki.

When you’re done eating and you’re just sipping on some kava you can play fun games which scattered around the lounge. Also, take a tour of their tidy gift shop which is located right in the bar area.

The Art and Live Performances

The Floating Sea Aquatics is for the community, they welcome all artists. From painters, drawers, photographers, singers, even videographers; FSA makes a safe space for every type of art to freely express themselves.

With consistent events, FSA hosts free art classes for adults and children. This is a wonderful idea because when the children are enjoying an art class given by legitimate artists, parents can relax and enjoy a kava shell or a coffee in the lounging area.

FSA is open to starting any kind of club that sparks interest such as movies, books, even chess which makes FSA a great area to host a tournament.

There are also performances from local musicians and bands. The owners are strong supporters of local artists and they are encouraged to continue creating their art. Some of their art can even be purchased at the gift shop.

A lot of the events here are free but it’s highly encouraged to donate to the food bank. FSA is very big on giving back and it’s always welcomed to bring canned goods to their food shelf.

Future Goals of Floating Sea Aquatics

FSA ultimately has 5 goals:

  • Enhance Animal Rescue Operations
  • Improve Environmental Education
  • Promote Conservation Efforts
  • Foster a Culture of Community Service
  • Increase Public Awareness and Advocacy

It’s incredibly obvious that FSA aims high with what they want to do. They want the best for us and the animals alike. They want to bring diversity into their store all while bringing us together to create a stronger community. They want to build that strength through education, charity, serenity, and participation.
